Windsong's Legacy Wins the Triple Crown

Harness racing ended its drought of Triple Crown winners this Saturday when Windsong's Legacy won the Kentucky Futurity at The Red Mile in Lexington, Kentucky. The 3-year-old colt's owners and trainer/driver Trond Smedshammer also announced his retirement, he will stand at stud in North America, but no final arrangements have been made. Windsong's Legacy retires with 10 wins, 2 seconds and 4 thirds in 17 lifetime starts; he earned $1,705,344. The Trotting Triple Crown is comprised of the Hambletonian, Yonkers Trot and Kentucky Futurity. The previous Triple Crown winner was Super Bowl in 1972.

Eternal Camnation Retires

Eternal Camnation, the richest mare in the history of harness racing, made her final appearance this Saturday at The Red Mile. Despite the star of the day being Windsong's Legacy, the 7-year-old pacing mare received rounds of applause each time she passed in front of the grandstand. She finished 2nd in the Allerage Farms Open Mare Pace to Carolina Sunshine.
